Temple History :

Devarmalai Kathir Narasinga Perumal temple is a famous Hindu temple which is located about 5 km away from a place called “Paalayam” and is about 30 km away from Karur district of Tamil Nadu state.This temple is a five centuries old shrine. When lord Narasimha killed Hiranya and returned to a forest in a ferocious state all the devatas performed abhisheka with sacred water to calm him down. Pleased with the gesture, lord Narasimha provided darshan in veera asana pose with his right feet placed on the ground and the left leg in a folded position. His left hand is positioned as if he is inviting the devotees while his right hand is in Abhaya hastham posture, blessing them. The sacred water here is believed to liberate those with Pitru dosham.The shrine comprises of maha Mandapam, Artha Mandapam and karuvarai for the deity Sri Kathir Narasinga Perumal and goddess Kamala Valli Thaayaru. The goddess is found in a separate shrine. By worshipping the deity all the family problems, mind related problems, problems in marriage are cleared and during Pradhosha going around the temple for11 times will give all that we wish for.

History: The almighty lord Narayana assumed the Narasimha avatar to save his devotee Prahlada from his father Hiranya Kasia, who was planning to destroy his son for his unshakable belief on lord Narayana. The almighty flashed from a pillar imminently to save his child with compassion and destroyed Hiranya. This revealed to the mankind that the lord is everywhere and anywhere and submitting oneself to the lord is the only way to get rid of evils and perils of life.

The special features of the temple are Veerasana Kolam of lord Narasimha, the first of the Palayams of the Nayaks, several ancient inscriptions are found at the entrance to the Thaayaru Sannidhi, Moolavar idol is believed to be over 1000 years old.10 days Brahmotsavam in the month of Vaikasi, Navarathri Kolu for Kamala Valli Thaayaru, Chakkarai Pongal presented to Sri Lakshmi Narayana every Monday and special abhisheka on Ashtami to Swarna Akarshana Bhairavar.
