Belur, Sri Chennakesava Swamy temple is the best example of Indian Architecture during Hoyasala’s period.Belur is a small town on the bank of Yagachi. After the destruction of Hoyasala’s capital by Delhi Sultan’s Hoyasala’s had chosen Belur as their new capital. Hoyasala’s was started ruling from Belur during the 13th century.Hoyasala’s were great patrons of art and architecture. The temples and architectural monuments at Beluru are the best examples of their creations. The wonderful creation of architectural monuments at Belur was made by great sculptor Jakkana who belonged to Kaidala village at Tumkur in Karnataka state. After few years of his marriage because of his great interest in Sculpture, he left his wife and went to many regions and built many temples with greater architecture and, he forgot about his family and his past life. Later his wife gave birth to a child and named as Dhnkanachari. Dhankanachari himself become a great sculpture from his childhood and he started searching his father, on his search, he got a chance as sculpture in Beluru Sri Chennakesava Swamy temple under Jakkanacharya’s assistance.

After completion of the sculpting at Belur temple, Dhankanacharya says that there is a frog inside a statue which was sculptured by Jakkanacharya. Then Jakkanacharya promised that if he show’s frog inside that statue then he will cut off his hand, then Dhankanacharya show’s a frog inside the sculptured statue. Then Jakkanacharya cut one of his hand. By this, they found that both are the father and his son. By this Dhankanacharya proved that he is the great sculpture than his father. Later by Sri Chennakesava Swamy’s blessings, Jakkanacharya got his hand back. The sculpture of Belur Sri Chennakesava Swamy temple is the greatest gift for the modern Indian’s that how much we are advanced in everything. Jakkanacharya had shown the most advanced technologies which were going to come in the future by his sculpture.
